The most common question we get is: "Can I do scuba diving if I don't know how to swim?"

The short answer is YES! More than 70% of our first-time guests do not know how to swim.

How Scuba Works for Non-Swimmers

Scuba diving is very different from swimming. When you swim, you use energy to stay on the surface. In scuba:

1
Floating Jacket (BCD): You wear a Buoyancy Control Device. By pressing a button, the instructor inflates it with air, letting you float effortlessly on the water surface.
2
1:1 Instructor Support: You are never alone. A certified PADI dive professional stays with you, holding your harness throughout the entire dive. They handle your depth, direction, and equipment.
3
Breathing Gear: You breathe through a regulator connected to a tank. You do not need to hold your breath or poke your head up.
4
Underwater Briefing: Before entering deep water, you will practice breathing and mask clearing in shallow water next to the boat.

Easiest Package to Choose

If you are a non-swimmer, we recommend the Intro Scuba Try Dive (₹1,999). It keeps you at a comfortable depth of 5-8 metres, letting you see the reef and marine life without any pressure.

Step-by-Step Non-Swimmer Experience

Here is exactly what happens during your dive session:

  • Step 1: Gear Fitting on the Boat: Our team fits you with a snug neoprene wetsuit, an adjustable dive mask, and your buoyant BCD harness.
  • Step 2: Surface Acclimatization: You enter the water wearing a fully inflated jacket that keeps your head safely above the water line. Your instructor holds your hand, helps you put the regulator mouthpiece in, and lets you practice breathing on the surface for 3 to 5 minutes until you feel 100% comfortable.
  • Step 3: Gradual Descent: Once you give the "OK" hand signal, your instructor slowly vents a small amount of air from the jacket. You descend gently—inch by inch—alongside the instructor.
  • Step 4: Effortless Gliding: You don't even need to kick your legs vigorously! Your instructor propels and steers you smoothly through the coral garden while you look at the vibrant marine life.
  • Step 5: Underwater Photos & Videos: The instructor points out colorful fish, coral formations, and records high-definition videos of your dive.
  • Step 6: Gentle Ascent: At the end of the session, the instructor brings you back to the surface and inflates your jacket, leaving you floating effortlessly before helping you up the boat ladder.

Common Non-Swimmer Fears & How We Handle Them

  • "What if I swallow sea water?" The scuba regulator has a one-way purge valve. Even if water gets inside, pressing the purge button clears it instantly.
  • "What if my mask fogs up?" We apply baby shampoo anti-fog treatment to all masks before the dive. If water enters your mask, a simple head tilt and gentle nose blow clears it underwater.
  • "What if I feel claustrophobic or scared?" You can signal "Up" with your thumb at any second. Your instructor will immediately float you to the calm sea surface in less than 5 seconds.
